All your content is private by default
Unless you explicitly choose to share or make content public, everything you upload or connect to ChapterWise remains completely private and accessible only to you. We never make your content public, share it with others, or use it for any purpose beyond providing you service.
Information We Collect
Account Information
Email address, display name, and authentication credentials for account management and service provision.
Manuscript Content
Your uploaded manuscripts and documents are processed solely for analysis purposes. We do not read, share, or use your creative content for any other purpose.
Storage: We maintain secure backups of your content to prevent data loss, but these backups are encrypted and never accessed except to restore your data if needed.
GitHub Repository Content
When you connect a GitHub repository to ChapterWise Codex:
- • We store a local copy of files from repositories you explicitly authorize
- • We receive webhook notifications when you push changes
- • We access only the specific repositories you grant permission to
- • You can revoke access at any time, triggering immediate and permanent deletion
Usage Data
Information about how you use our service, including analysis requests, feature usage, and technical performance data.
Technical Information
IP address, browser type, device information, and system performance data for service optimization and security.
How We Use Your Information
Service Provision
Analyze your manuscripts and provide insights, character analysis, and writing feedback.
Account Management
Maintain your account, process payments, and provide customer support.

Data Retention and Deletion
Immediate Deletion Policy
Your manuscripts are deleted immediately upon request. When you delete content or disconnect a service, we remove it from our active systems instantly. Backups are purged within 24 hours.
GitHub Project Deletion
When you disconnect a GitHub repository or delete a Git project:
- • Immediate Action: We immediately stop syncing and remove webhook access
- • Local Deletion: All cloned repository files are permanently deleted from our servers
- • Complete Removal: Images, documents, and all related data are erased
- • Backup Purge: Any backups containing your repository data are deleted within 24 hours
- • Irreversible: Once deleted, we cannot recover the data - it's gone permanently
Account Data Retention
Account information (email, preferences) is retained while your account is active. You can request complete account deletion at any time, which removes all associated data.
Legal Obligations
Some data may be retained as required by law (e.g., transaction records for tax purposes), but your creative content is never subject to these requirements.

You have complete control over GitHub repository access:
How to Revoke Access
- • Through GitHub: Settings → Applications → Installed GitHub Apps → ChapterWise Codex → Revoke
- • Through ChapterWise: Dashboard → Project → Delete Project
- • Effect: Immediate disconnection and permanent data deletion
What Happens Next
- • Webhook notifications stop immediately
- • All local repository copies deleted
- • No residual access to your GitHub
- • You can reconnect anytime with fresh permissions
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by email or through our service. Your continued use of ChapterWise after such modifications constitutes your acknowledgment and acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
